Privacy notice for the Holy Smokes BBQ rewards program
Last updated 5 October 2026
This explains what Holy Smokes BBQ collects when you join its rewards program, what it is used
for, and how to stop it. It covers the rewards program and orders you place through our online menu.
What we collect
Only what you give us, and what your visits produce:
- Your name, where you give one.
- Your email address, if you join by email.
- Your birthday, if you choose to tell us — the month and day only, never the year.
-
Your points, and the rewards you have earned and redeemed.
- Orders you place with us: what you ordered, when, and what you paid.
-
Receipts you photograph for us, and what we read from them — the shop, the date, the
total, and a reference.
-
Purchases at our counter, when you ask for a text or email receipt that goes to the phone
number or email on your account: what you bought, when, and what you paid. That is how
your points are added without scanning a receipt.
- A record of the messages we have sent you.
We do not collect your location, we do not track you across other websites, and we do not buy
information about you from anybody else.
What we use it for
- Running the program: crediting your points and letting you claim what you have earned.
- Recognising you when you come in or sign in, so your rewards are on the right account.
-
Sending you program messages — a welcome when you join, and offers from
Holy Smokes BBQ by email.
- Taking and preparing your orders, and telling you when they are ready.
- Choosing which offers to send you, based on what you have bought from us.
We do not sell your information.
Holy Smokes BBQ does not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
Emails
Program emails carry an unsubscribe link, and one click stops them. Your rewards are
unaffected.
Who else sees it
This program runs on Splango, which stores this information and sends these messages on behalf of Holy Smokes BBQ and only ever
on our instructions. Splango uses established providers to deliver
emails — they handle what is needed to deliver a message and nothing else.
Photographed receipts are read by an automated service so we do not have to type them out;
the image is used for that reading and for settling any dispute, and for nothing else.
When our till sends a receipt to a phone number or email, we read that sale from our own
point-of-sale account; if the number or email is not on a member's account, we do not keep it.
Online orders go to our till so the kitchen gets them: your name, phone number and what you
ordered travel with each one.
When you pay for an online order by card, you type the card into our card processor's own
form: the processor handles the payment for us, we never see the card number, and your email
goes to the processor for the receipt.
Beyond that, nobody — except where the law requires it of us.
How long we keep it
- Your account and its history: for as long as you are a member, so your rewards keep working.
-
Receipt photographs: 90 days, then automatically
deleted. We keep the amount credited and a fingerprint of the receipt after the image has
gone, so the same receipt cannot be claimed twice.
- Sign-in codes: they expire in minutes and are deleted shortly after.
Your choices
- Stop emails using the unsubscribe link in any of them.
- Ask us what we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete your account entirely.
Contact Holy Smokes BBQ using the details below and we will deal with it.
